Understanding Chiropractic
Chiropractic is a healthcare profession focused on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of conditions related to the muscles, joints, spine, and nervous system. Chiropractors use hands-on techniques and evidence-based care to help restore movement, reduce pain, and improve overall function.
The word “chiropractic” means “to be done by hand.” Chiropractors evaluate the biomechanical structure of the spine, to ensure that each one of the individual vertebra are moving freely.
The body uses millions of processes to help you to adapt to the environment and keep you alive and thriving.
This is regulated by the brain and spinal cord, known as the nervous system. A healthy nervous system ensures that every process in the body can happen in the right way at the right time leading to optimal functioning of our bodies.
When there is better communication and function within the body, it is able to heal, adapt and recover in its most natural way.

What to expect
Your first consultation includes a detailed medical history, discussion of your current concerns, and a thorough physical examination including orthopaedic and neurological tests, and assessing your spinal movements and posture. If imaging is needed we will recommend the appropriate investigations.
Once the assessment is complete we will explain our findings, answer your questions and outline a treatment plan. Treatment may include soft tissue therapy followed by chiropractic adjustments. For babies and children, treatment is extremely gentle, using only light pressure appropriate for their age and size.
Following treatment, we will guide you through helpful stretches, ergonomic advice, and ways to prevent your symptoms from returning. A personalised treatment plan and recommendations may also be provided to support your recovery and long-term wellbeing.
